| Overview |
For 2012, the Toyota FJ Cruiser adds new trim lines. The manual transmission model, which could only be ordered with the Off-Road Package to start for 2011, now comes in a base trim line as well. The Trail Team Special Edition adds off-rock rock rails, roof-mounted off-road lighting with roof rack, blackout bumpers, grill, mirrors and door handles, exclusive Radiant Red exterior colour with matching roof, and 16-inch black TRD alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. The new Urban Package, available only with the automatic transmission, adds most of the Off-Road Package features but deletes the roof rack and Bilstein shock absorbers, and adds backup sensors.
Designed for the North American market, the FJ Cruiser uses a full frame modified from the Tacoma pickup truck, and a 4.0-litre V6 engine with six-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic. When ordered with the six-speed manual, the FJ uses a full-time four-wheel drive system, while the automatic uses a part-time system.
The FJ Cruiser comes in a single trim line and includes 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity, water-repellent fabric seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, power locks, power windows, three-spoke tilt steering wheel, rubber floor with all-weather floor mats, front tow hook, foldable exterior mirrors, flip-up rear hatch glass, splash guards, variable intermittent wipers, and rear washer/wiper.
An available Off-Road Package adds cargo mat, cruise control, keyless entry, roof rack, floating ball multi-information display, compass, outside temperature gauge, inclinometer, power mirrors with lamps, auto-dimming mirror with rearview camera, folding passenger armrest, front and rear Bilstein shock absorbers and rear privacy glass.
The Trail Teams Special Edition adds 16-inch black wheels with all-terrain tires, matte black front grille, bumpers, door handles and mirrors, off-road roof lights with air dam, off-road rock rails, monotone exterior paint and colour-tuned interior.
When equipped with an automatic transmission, the FJ Cruiser can also be optioned with an Urban Package, which adds cargo mat, cruise control, keyless entry, floating ball multi-information display, compass, outside temperature gauge, inclinometer, power mirrors with lamps, auto-dimming mirror with rearview camera, folding passenger armrest, privacy glass, JBL audio system with subwoofer, backup sensors, 115-volt power outlet, running boards, leather-wrapped steering wheel and colour-keyed interior door trim.
