| Overview |
For 2012, changes to the Subaru WRX and STI are in trim. The sedan models add new garnish, the STI receives a new headlight surround, and a premium navigation stereo is added to the STI Sport Tech package.
The WRX and WRX STI come as a four-door sedan or four-door hatchback. The WRX uses a turbocharged, intercooled 2.5-litre four-cylinder horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine with five-speed manual transmission. The WRX STI uses a high-pressure turbocharged, intercooled 2.5-litre four-cylinder with six-speed manual transmission. Both are all-wheel drive, and the WRX STI includes a multi-mode driver-controlled centre differential.
Trim levels are the WRX, WRX Limited, WRX STI, and WRX STI Sport Tech Package.
Features on the WRX include 17-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires, automatic climate control, hill holder system, open-type rear differential, performance suspension, anti-theft system, rear underbody diffuser, heated mirrors, black stainless steel and mesh-type grille, windshield wiper de-icer, CD/MP3/WMA audio with four speakers and two tweeters, voice-activated Bluetooth connectivity, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls, iPod/USB media hub, Bluetooth streaming audio, aluminum sport pedals, heated rally-type Anthracite Black cloth seats with red stitching, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The sedan includes a quad-tip high-performance exhaust, low-profile rear spoiler and rear-seat folding centre armrest. The hatchback includes a quad-tip exhaust, large roofline rear spoiler and cargo cover.
The WRX Limited adds fog lights, power sunroof, leather seats and Sirius satellite radio.
The WRX STI builds on the WRX and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, helical limited-slip front differential, Torsen limited-slip rear differential, multi-mode driver-controlled centre differential, Brembo high-performance brake system, integrated aerodynamic side ground effects, black Alcantara and Anthracite Black leather seats with red stitching, and aluminum-finish headlight surround.
The Sport Tech Package adds power sunroof, xenon headlamps with manual levelling, Pioneer AVIC CD/MP3/WMA/DVD/DiX navigation stereo with detachable face, Bluetooth streaming audio, steering wheel-mounted Bluetooth controls, Sirius satellite radio, Pioneer front speakers, Sirius satellite radio and mirror-integrated LED turn signals.
