| Overview |
For 2012, the Honda Civic is redesigned into its ninth generation and includes the Civic sedan, coupe, Civic Si and Civic Hybrid models. New features include redesigned styling, roomier interior, new or redesigned engines, improved fuel economy, and electronic stability control standard on all models. The Civic Hybrid receives a lithium-ion battery, the first for a Honda hybrid vehicle.
New available technologies include satellite-linked navigation, intelligent Multi-Information Display with audio track titles and personal wallpaper, USB audio interface and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Civic is available as a sedan in DX, LX, EX and EX-L trim; as a coupe in LX, EX and EX-L trim; as the Civic Si sedan and Civic Si coupe; and as the Civic Hybrid sedan.
All of the regular sedan and coupe models use a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine. The DX, LX and EX trim lines come with a five-speed manual transmission. The LX and EX can be optioned to a five-speed automatic transmission; the EX-L uses the automatic exclusively. The Civic Si models use a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with six-speed manual transmission, while the Hybrid uses a 1.5-litre engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Features on the DX sedan include 15-inch steel wheels, manual driver’s height adjustment, floor mats, folding rear seat, two-speed intermittent wipers, cargo light, power windows, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and four speakers, power mirrors, and front splash guards.
The LX adds air conditioning, 60/40 folding rear seat, security system, fuel mileage indicator, Bluetooth connectivity, illuminated window and lock controls, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control, intelligent multi-information display, map lights, auto up/down driver’s window, power locks with keyless entry, USB connector, body-coloured door handles, and heated mirrors.
The EX adds 16-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear centre armrest, exterior temperature gauge, rear cupholders, electronic trunk release, variable intermittent wipers, six speakers, and power sunroof.
The EX-L adds eight-way power driver’s seat, heated leather seats, navigation system, XM satellite radio, and automatic headlamps.
The Si sedan builds on the EX and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, limited-slip differential, sport-tuned suspension, aluminum shift knob, sport seats, navigation system, power monitor, red backlit gauges, aluminum pedals, premium stereo with subwoofer, XM satellite radio, rear wing spoiler, chrome exhaust finisher, fog lights, and automatic headlamps.
The Hybrid builds on the LX and adds 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, heated seats, premium cloth interior, navigation system, six speakers, XM satellite radio, mirrors with integrated turn signals, and rear deck lid spoiler.
Features on the LX coupe include 15-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, manual driver’s height adjustment, floor mats, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and six speakers, USB connector, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, security system, two-speed intermittent wipers, cargo light, Bluetooth connectivity, illuminated lock and window controls, cruise control, intelligent multi-information display, map lights, auto up/down driver’s window, power locks with keyless entry, electronic trunk release, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power mirrors, front splash guards, and auto-off headlamps.
