| Overview |
For 2012, the Buick LaCrosse adds an eAssist model, which uses a “light electrification” system for improved fuel economy. The eAssist system is included on the 2.4-litre four-cylinder, while the conventional LaCrosse uses only the V6 engine. The eAssist uses an electric motor-generator and lithium-ion battery that provides a power boost when needed, but it will not run on electricity alone. The system is recharged internally by regenerative braking and does not get plugged into a wall outlet.
The conventional LaCrosse receives a new, more powerful 3.6-litre engine, and there are new standard features and trim lines.
The LaCrosse lineup consists of the LaCrosse eAssist, with 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and electric motor, and the LaCrosse, with 3.6-litre V6. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission. The eAssist is front-wheel drive, while the V6 is available in front- or all-wheel drive.
The front-wheel drive LaCrosse is available in base, Convenience, Convenience Luxury, Convenience Luxury with Driver Confidence Package, Ultra Luxury, Ultra Luxury with Driver Confidence Package, and Ultra Luxury Touring. The all-wheel drive comes in Convenience, Convenience Luxury, and Convenience Luxury with Driver Confidence Package.
Features on the LaCrosse include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, OnStar, automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, cruise control, front and rear floor mats, driver information centre, ambient lighting, keyless entry, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, illuminated vanity mirrors, auto up/down front windows, cloth seats, eight-way power driver’s seat, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Convenience Group adds 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, variable-assist steering, eight-way power passenger seat, remote starter and garage door opener.
The Convenience with Luxury adds heated perforated leather seats, driver’s side memory and heated auto-dimming mirrors with integrated turn signals and puddle lamps.
The Convenience Luxury with Driver Confidence Package adds head-up display, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, side blind zone alert and rear parking assist.
The Ultra Luxury builds on the Convenience with Luxury and adds 18-inch chrome-clad wheels, hard disc drive navigation system, Harmon Kardon surround sound system, E-Z Key passive entry system, heated and ventilated seats, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, 120-volt power outlet, rearview camera, satellite radio, power rear sunshade, HiPer strut front suspension, and rear parking assist.
The Ultra Luxury with Driver Confidence Package adds head-up display and blind zone alert.
The Ultra Luxury Touring adds 19-inch alloy wheels and rear H-arm suspension with continuously variable damping and Sport mode.
