| Overview |
For 2012, the BMW Z4 has a new model: the sDrive28i, powered by a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. It replaces the sDrive30i, which used a naturally-aspirated 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine.
The Z4 lineup consists of the sDrive28i, with 2.0-litre four-cylinder and twin-scroll turbocharger; the sDrive35i, with twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder; and as the sDrive35is, with a higher-performance version of the 3.0-litre six-cylinder. The sDrive28i comes with a six-speed manual transmission that can be optioned to an eight-speed automatic. The sDrive28i uses a six-speed manual transmission that can be optioned to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the sDrive28is uses the seven-speed automatic exclusively. All come with a two-piece retractable hardtop.
Features on the sDrive28i include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive automatic bi-xenon headlamps, adaptive LED brake lights, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer nozzles, front knee airbags, keyless entry with pushbutton start, front chrome grille with black bars, black front air scoop, twin exhaust tips, dynamic cruise control, locking illuminated glovebox, multifunction leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic sport steering wheel, auto up/down windows, six-way manually-adjustable heated “leatherette” seats, CD/MP3 stereo, iPod cable, auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity, and BMW Assist.
The sDrive35i adds 18-inch alloy wheels, exterior door handle lighting, chrome grille with matte aluminum bars, matte aluminum hood scoop, split exhaust tips, auto-dimming rearview mirror, anthracite roof liner, Comfort Access with remote top operation, interior ambient lighting, garage door opener, and twelve-way power-operated heated leather sport seats.
The sDrive35is adds Servotronic steering, sport exhaust system, adaptive M sport suspension, front and rear park distance control, alarm system, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, M aerodynamic package, aluminum carbon interior trim, heated steering wheel, M steering wheel with paddle shifters, wind deflector, Logic7 premium stereo with hard disc drive, Sirius satellite radio, navigation system, voice control, and iDrive with LCD display and programmable keys.
